Hello and Welcome

Welcome to the Kalannie Community Resource Centre. We are a community based CRC which continues to provide the latest in technologies and services, at competitive prices for the whole community’s benefit.  We are a government information access point for state government services and Centrelink. We work alongside the Kalannie community to offer community and business development.  Drop in and say hello.

The Kalannie Community Resource Centre staff and committee members respectfully acknowledge all First Nations people of the Kalannie region. We pay our respects to Elders past, present and emerging.

Kalannie is "Corner Country", we are on the boundary of 4 aboriginal groups - the Badimia, Kalaamaya, Yued and Ballardong people who all used to come together and meet in the area. In Noongar language Kalannie could be translated to Karl (fire) Nyininy (sitting) - it seems that visitors to our land have enjoyed this pasttime for over 50,000 years as it is still a favourity of our community. We all enjoy coming together, sitting and connecting.

Badimia people are the indigenous group of the area and live throughout the Dalwallinu Shire. One of their most sacred sites is Lake Moore. In Badimia language the name for the Rainbow serpent is Bimarra and their belief is that the Bimarra lives in Lake Moore.
